Foals Galore for September

Forty foals to date and a spotlight on our new stallion; catch-up on the news for September.

Foaling
We have had thirty more foals arrive in September, with three arriving one night within half an hour. That brings the total to forty, with the colts at twenty-one, just shading the girls with nineteen. Colour wise we have twenty-six bays, eleven wrangers (the red headed persuasion), two greys and one two toned gypsy cob. The Bombora Downs 2020 Foal Gallery is up and running so you can see some pictures of the latest arrivals.

Works
Beds For Tail’s works have had to take a back seat during the breeding season. One half of the property has been fenced, gated and now growing some good grass for the future. The other half has the roads finished and the water will be connected in the near future. However, fencing will have to wait for a couple of months. Still on track for the yearling boys to be moved by the end of the year.

Breeding
The early covers have resulted, in the main with 15-day positive pregnancy tests. We have done a number of walk-ons for clients to Nagambie, Geelong and Euroa. Bookings for our own stallions are coming along. Our new client is sending a number of mares to Frankel My Dear.

Frankel My Dear

Frankel My Dear

Frankel My Dear (Frankel (GB) x Buenos Aires (IRE)) becomes the first son of Frankel (Galileo) to stand at stud in Australia. He is out of the Listed placed Rainbow Quest (Blushing Groom) mare Buenos Aires. His second dam is Benediction (Day Is Done) who produced the multiple Group 1 winner and champion in Might And Power (Zabeel). This is also the family of Group 1 winners Beauty Parlour (Deep Impact), Mosheen (Fastnet Rock) and Lucky Owners (Danehill).Frankel My Dear winning at Pakenham

Frankel as a sire has sired more than fifty stakes winners with mares from a range of sire lines – Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector, Raise A Native, Blushing Groom, Nijinsky, Nureyev, Danzig, Mill Reef, and the list goes on. So really any mare suits this boy.

Frankel My Dear won at 1200m and his best performances came at the sprint distances. He never reached his full potential, plagued by injury. The stallion is standing privately but is open to a limited number of outside mares. If interested, please contact Christoph as soon as possible.
