What's Happened in June

Yearling Prep ramps up again, Warhorse (NZ) in the spotlight and maintenance goes on.

Yearling Preparation
Yearling preparation for the upcoming INGLIS Gold sale on July 16th is in full swing. We are preparing 9 for the sale with Bombora Downs presenting 7 yearlings at the sale itself. These yearlings started their preps in March but were put on hold as the sales were postponed due to the COVID-19 issues. View our draft in the INGLIS catalogue:

INGLIS have confirmed that the live sales are to proceed in July with strict protocols. If you would like to go to the sales at Oaklands Junction, you will need to register with INGLIS closer to the sales date. There will be a restriction on numbers allowed at the sales complex at any one time.

Entries for the 2021 yearling sales will open in the coming months. Inglis usually start inspections in October / November to ascertain which sale the horse should be targeted for. If you are thinking of selling a yearling at one of the sales in 2021, have a chat to Christoph sooner rather than later. He gets busy during Stud season!! Which leads us onto the next topic.

Breeding
The 2020 breeding season is fast approaching. The next batch of champions to be born and the following years hopes to be determined. Have you decided on a stallion yet? If you need some help, Christoph is always available for a chat to discuss the stallions Bombora Downs has on offer for some very reasonable prices. This month’s spotlight is on Warhorse (NZ).

Warhorse (NZ)201610NewsPic1
A precocious and champion 2-year-old, winning a stakes race at his 3rd start and then saluting in a G1 two runs later, both over 1200m. He finished his 2-year-old year with 2 wins, a second and 2 thirds from 6 starts, 5 of which were at Group level. Warhorse (NZ) was voted Champion 2-year-old of the 2011/12 season by New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing. The colt trained on at three to win a Listed race over 1400m before finishing a game third in a G1 over 1600m, beaten only a head and a neck.

Warhorse (NZ) was an outstanding 2-year-old, a Classic performed 3-year-old and then went on to be a proven Group Class weight-for-age performer. He performed at Group level from 2 to 5 years and was an outstanding sprinter. He not only offers breeders an outcross pedigree that is a perfect match with Danehill line mares, but he is an ideal fit for Victoria’s Super VOBIS bonus scheme. Warhorse (NZ), is near black, is correct, retired sound and is a commercial proposition. Follow the link to view his races:
